Can someone explain what LAN is? It says it on R6V. Was wondering.

Local Area Network. It's for small networks such as when you have a friend bring his PS3 over and hook them together directly rather than going out to the big, wide world. Everyone who has wireless internet setup in there home essentially has setup a LAN. If you ever hear the term LAN Party, it's a bunch of people getting together somewhere, plugging their computers (or consoles or whatever) together and gaming amongst themselves without any communication with the outside world (at least as far as the computers are concerned).

So, how do you connect the PS3's together?

Run a CAT5 cable between them  or both to a router rather than between the PS3 and the wall. You could also connect to the same wireless router.

I have no idea what a CAT5 cable is. But you said you connect to the same wireless router? Does that mean if me and my friend connect, using the same wireless router, we both then can play on LAN?

A CAT5 cable is your standard ethernet cable (heads are a little bigger than a phone cord). And yeah, you should be able to do the exact same thing through a wireless router. I don't know what tinkering would need to be involved, but it should work.

I believe if you go to Multiplayer, there should be an option for LAN or offline, but I have not really looked in a long time. Eviltim and I are going to be playing a couple PS3's next to each other this weekend so maybe we'll look then. I'll try to remember to check into the forums every once in a while and see if you're still wanting help.
